Located in the beguiling village of Varenna, in Lake Como, steeped in heady flowering scents and birdsongs, Villa Cipressi is a short ferry ride away from Bellagio. The scenery around the picture-perfect promontory unfolds into pastel-hued villas stacked up on a verdant hillside and the narrow lanes around are often a little more than long stone staircases.
OWNERS, HISTORY, EXTERIOR & INTERIOR DESIGN
The history of Villa Cipressi begins in the 15th century where some of the main buildings of the complex were established. Initially part of the Serponti family’s patrimony the establishment was later passed to several illustrious owners, namely Baron Isimbardi, the Andreossi family, Sir Sulton, Sir Astley of England and finally to the Accame family. The R Collection Hotels renovated the property to render a chic complex of garden villas and hotel suites as well as two luxurious restaurants and three bespoke bars, with one located inside the historic home of the Hotel Royal Victoria.
GETTING TO VILLA Cipressi
Access to Villa Cipressi is available by car, but also via private water taxis and luxury yacht as there is a beautiful dock on the front.
